Our Mission
At The Sandbox Learning Center, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where children from birth to 12 years old can grow, learn, and thrive. We are dedicated to supporting the whole child through developmentally appropriate curriculum, structured hygiene and nutrition education, and strong partnerships with families. Our commitment to community involvement ensures that every child receives the care and learning opportunities they deserve.
We are a fully licensed childcare center, ensuring the highest standards of safety, education, and care.
Meet Our Founder
Rachel Trujillo
Owner & Director | Infant Teacher
Rachel Trujillo is the owner and founder of The Sandbox Learning Center in New Caney, Texas. With a background as a pediatric registered dental assistant and a passion for early childhood development, Rachel is dedicated to creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. Her vision combines structured learning with strong community values, hygiene awareness, and personalized care for each child.
Rachel is CDA-certified, holds 24 hours of childcare training, and is CPR certified. As both owner and hands-on educator, she is deeply committed to creating a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for children and their families.
Ms. Alyssa McKenzie
Toddler Teacher
Ms. Alyssa McKenzie is a caring and dedicated toddler teacher here at The Sandbox Learning Center. As a loving mother to a one year old, she brings a personal understanding of what young children truly need during these important early years. Her approach is rooted in patience, compassion, and a genuine love for watching children grow.
Every day, Ms. Alyssa creates a warm and welcoming environment where our toddlers feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. She is always right there with them, whether they are exploring new activities, listening to stories, singing songs, or creating colorful crafts. Her hands-on style and calm, reassuring presence help each child feel confident as they discover the world around them.
Ms. Alyssa believes in the power of early learning and takes great pride in helping our toddlers reach important milestones. She understands that every child is unique and works hard to build strong connections that support each child’s individual growth. Parents love her nurturing spirit and the positive energy she brings into the classroom each and every day.
